Research shows that evidence-based therapies help change not just how we think and feel but how the brain itself functions, for long-term benefit. Our brains are capable of neuroplasticity where they can prune old, unhelpful pathways and form new neural connections throughout life. By practicing new ways of thinking, responding, and relating to emotions, therapy helps "rewire" brain pathways that have been shaped by stress, anxiety, trauma, or habit. Over time, this process makes it easier to respond with flexibility instead of reactivity and to break patterns that once felt automatic.
CBT is a collaborative, evidence-based approach that helps you understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Over time, certain patterns of thinking and reacting can become automatic, reinforcing cycles that leave you feeling stuck.
Together, we’ll gently identify the beliefs and reactions that are no longer serving you and develop practical, effective strategies to shift them. By learning to recognize these patterns in real time, you can respond with greater clarity and intention, creating meaningful and lasting change in your daily life.
While I do not practice comprehensive DBT anymore, I take a DBT-informed approach. This treatment is especially helpful if you experience intense emotions, difficulty managing impulsive or self-defeating behaviors, or rigid thinking. It focuses on helping you better regulate emotions, cope with distress, and improve relationships by integrating skills of mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. In therapy, we’ll practice tools for being more present, finding balance between acceptance and change, and responding to difficult situations in more effective ways.
Mindfulness-Based Approaches
My work integrates mindfulness and acceptance-based strategies to help clients relate differently to their thoughts, emotions, and internal experiences. Rather than trying to eliminate discomfort, we focus on increasing awareness, flexibility, and self-compassion, by creating space to respond with intention instead of reactivity. Mindfulness practices are woven in thoughtfully and practically, always tailored to support insight, emotional regulation, and meaningful change in daily life.
South Asian Identity-Informed Therapy
My work with individuals who identify as South Asian is grounded in evidence-based therapies delivered through a culturally responsive lens. In therapy, we may explore identity development, intergenerational expectations, achievement pressure, and acculturation stress, while building practical skills for emotional regulation, self-understanding, and resilience. This approach honors cultural context while supporting personal growth, psychological flexibility, and well-being. Many of us carry unique pressures tied to cultural norms around success, relationships, mental health stigma, and duty that can feel both grounding and constraining. In therapy, we explore these experiences with respect for your cultural values while gently unpacking the emotional patterns and assumptions that shape your inner world, creating space to better understand yourself and integrate your heritage with your personal goals and sense of self.
I bring evidence-based Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills training directly to your workplace, offering interactive workshops tailored to your team’s needs. Workshops focus on fostering resilience, emotional wellness, and better communication through:
Mindfulness & Presence: Cultivating awareness of moment-to-moment experience, reducing automatic reactivity
Emotion Regulation: Identifying and modifying emotional responses, building capacity for stability
Distress Tolerance: Learning strategies to cope when things feel overwhelming (without making things worse)
Interpersonal Effectiveness: Communicating clearly and assertively, navigating conflict, maintaining boundaries
Each workshop is interactive, incorporating practical exercises, role-plays, group discussion, and case-based examples to bring theory into real-world use.
Workshops are customizable by duration and format (e.g. one time or weekly 60-minute lunch-and-learn, virtual or in-person). I can also incorporate:
Takeaway materials & handouts for ongoing practice
Follow-up “booster sessions” or check-ins to support sustained integration
Whether you’re aiming to boost team resilience, reduce conflict, or support employee well-being, these DBT-based wellness workshops offer tools that people can use both in and out of the workplace.
