Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
Short answer, no. I do not bill insurance directly, but I provide monthly Superbills that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Many plans will cover a portion of therapy costs once you've met your out-of-network deductible, but coverage varies.
I recommend calling your insurance provider to ask:
Do I have out-of-network behavioral health benefits
What is my out-of-network deductible, and has any of it been met
What percentage of therapy costs will be reimbursed
Clients are asked to maintain an active card on file for billing, which is processed at the end of the day of their appointment
How do I schedule a free 15-minute consultation?
You can email me directly at nikita@patelpsychology.com. I’ll respond within 1–2 business days to schedule a brief consultation call.
What can I expect in my first appointment?
The initial session is an extended appointment focused on assessment and orientation. Together, we’ll review your background including key identities, current concerns and goals, while also making space for questions and discussion of fit. This session helps establish a foundation for our work. Initial sessions are 90 minutes.
How long will we meet and for how long?
Most clients start with weekly 45-minute sessions. We’ll decide on a schedule together based on findings from our intake session.
What is your cancelation policy?
I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please do so at least 24 hours in advance. Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice (or missed without notice) will be charged at the full session rate. This policy helps me reserve your appointment time specifically for you and offer availability to other clients who may be waiting.
Where do we meet?
I currently only provide virtual therapy through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. You can join from a private space anywhere in New York, Tennessee, and in any participating PSYPACT state.
